The position will provide Community Outreach services at Communities at Work in Greenway, and Belconnen and Woden Libraries. Additional locations may be added at expos or other events around Canberra. • Set up and pack down outreach stall, including transporting and managing a small tub or backpack of resources (e.g. brochures, flyers) • Represent VolunteeringACT at pre-approved engagement activities working alongside another volunteer or employee (support available) • Greet community members and provide general information about volunteering and our programs (training provided) • Share resources, support engagement activities, and refer people to VolunteeringACT employees for more detailed support as needed • Keep the stall tidy, welcoming, and stocked, including monitoring and managing resource levels throughout your shift • Track and report basic activity information, including engagement numbers and the resources distributed • Provide a brief end of shift update to your assigned VolunteeringACT employee, including resource usage and any follow up needs (e.g. additional stock). • Notify your assigned VolunteeringACT employee immediately if you receive a complaint or encounter a complex question or situation (training and escalation processes will be provided). • Follow any event guidance, safety procedures, and escalation processes, and raise any safety concerns. • Work collaboratively with VolunteeringACT employees and other volunteers. • Follow VolunteeringACT’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, and your Volunteer Agreement. VolunteeringACT will provide all equipment and materials needed. VolunteeringACT provide volunteer insurance and access to an Employee Assistance Program. What you will not do: Outreach & Community Engagement Volunteers do not: • Provide personal advice, counselling, or support beyond general information sharing • Handle or operate a community member’s personal device • Make decisions on behalf of community members • Handle complaints or complex questions • Manage money or financial transactions • Lift heavy items without support or equipment
