Working within a commercial kitchen facility, Catering Team Members play a key role in supporting our community by providing nourishing meals in a safe, welcoming place. The role assists with preparing and serving lunch under the guidance and support of the Catering Team Leader. An ideal role for those who enjoy cooking in a team environment.

Key responsibilities:

Meal preparation and service: With guidance and instruction from the Catering Team Leader, Catering Team Members prepare meals according to the planned menu and the number of meals required With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, Team Members assist with the clean up of the kitchen space after the meal.

The majority of our food is donated and we receive 3 deliveries per week, these deliveries are quality controlled and sorted. Team members may be required to assist in this task.

The impact of this role: Sydney City Salvos provides safe welcoming spaces for our community, many of whom are sleeping rough or facing housing insecurity and isolation.

Each weekday, we provide a fresh nourishing lunch that offers choice and variety. Approximately 250 people a week come to eat with us, make connections and access the other services that are on offer in our drop in spaces. Volunteers are essential to Sydney City Salvos' delivery of a range of programs and support.

Volunteer impact includes practical hands-on help and the connections that develop amongst the community.
