Hensman Street Elementary is a small school with a big heart. We support some of the most vulnerable children and families in our community through a trauma-informed, multi-age model that puts every child at the centre. As a Board Member, you'd help shape the strategic direction of a school that's genuinely changing outcomes for the kids who need it most.
This is a meaningful way to contribute your skills and judgement to your local community, collaborate with a committed group of professionals and build real experience in not-for-profit governance.

Duties include:
• Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and the AGM
• Prepare for meetings by reviewing agendas and supporting documents
• Respond in a timely manner when input or feedback is requested
• Contribute ideas, insights and constructive discussion to support the School's strategic direction
• Exercise your vote as part of Board decision-making
• Act in the best interests of the School and its community
• Support and promote the work of the School within the community where appropriate

• Connections to community or external networks are welcome but not essential
Experience: Board experience is preferred but not essential, we'll support you to get up to speed. We especially welcome applications from people with skills in finance, law, marketing or property, as well as anyone who brings a different background or perspective to the table.
