Hensman Street Elementary is a small school with a big heart. We support some of the most vulnerable children and families in our community through a trauma-informed, multi-age model that puts every child at the centre. Sustainable funding is what makes that model possible, and as our Grants & Fundraising Board Member, you'd play a direct role in securing the resources that keep it running.
This is a hands-on opportunity to use your grant writing, fundraising or partnerships experience for a cause with real, visible impact, while collaborating with a committed group of professionals, building genuine not-for-profit board experience.

Duties include:
• Identify grant, philanthropic and fundraising opportunities relevant to the School
• Lead the preparation and submission of grant applications and funding requests
• Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors and community partners
• Track and report on grant and fundraising outcomes to the Board
• Full standard Board Member duties (attending meetings, contributing to strategic decisions, voting)
Skills & Attributes:
• Experience in grant writing, fundraising, philanthropy or partnerships
• Strong written communication skills
• Strategic thinking and the ability to identify opportunities
• Relationship-building skills and comfort engaging funders or donors
• Organised, with attention to detail
• High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Comfortable with email, Microsoft Teams and document tools
Experience: Experience in grant writing, fundraising or a related field is highly desirable. Board experience is a plus but not essential, we'll support you to get up to speed.
