Social Supermarket Assistant

Every week, members of our community visit our Mercer Street Social Supermarket to access affordable groceries in a welcoming and respectful environment, as a volunteer you will be working alongside a friendly team of volunteers and staff to help to create that experience.

Whether you're studying, working part-time, transitioning into retirement, looking to volunteer with a friend, or simply wanting to give back to your community, there's a place for you at Geelong Foodshare.

What you'll be doing: Depending on the shift, you may assist with:

• Welcoming and assisting customers
• Supporting customers at the checkout (training provided)
• Replenishing supermarket shelves and displays
• Preparing and presenting fresh fruit and vegetables
• Assisting customers with general enquiries and directing them to support services where required
• Working collaboratively with volunteers and staff to provide a positive shopping experience
• Recording basic stock or operational data
• General cleaning and housekeeping
• Every shift makes a difference
