As part of planned Board renewal, recent governance changes and upcoming director succession, we are seeking to appoint two new Volunteer Directors to help shape the organisation’s next chapter and strengthen our impact across the ACT community.
Every day, MHF supports people through recovery-focused mental health services, counselling, accommodation, capacity building and community partnerships, helping people live with hope, choice and good mental health.
Our Board is collaborative, collegiate and highly engaged.
Directors work alongside an experienced executive team to provide strategic direction, good governance and thoughtful oversight, while supporting innovation and sustainable growth. Board members are encouraged to contribute their expertise, challenge constructively and work together to strengthen both the organisation and the communities we serve.
This is a Board where relationships matter, ideas are welcomed and every director has the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.
We are particularly interested in people with experience in one or more of the following:
Marketing, communications or brand strategy Health or mental health Finance, audit or risk Philanthropy, fundraising or strategic partnerships Business development Legal or governance Senior executive or organisational leadership
We also welcome applications from people who bring lived or living experience of mental health, experience as a carer, and those with strong connections across Canberra’s diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
While previous board experience is welcomed, it is not essential for candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking and a commitment to good governance.
Applicants should be based in, or have a strong connection to, the Canberra region.
