Rise & Thrive Co Ltd is seeking expressions of interest from experienced, values-aligned professionals interested in joining our Board as Chair or Board Member.
About Rise & Thrive Co
Rise & Thrive Co is a registered Australian not-for-profit organisation supporting young people, families and communities through trauma-informed prevention and early intervention programs.
Our approach is built around meeting young people where they are, creating connection before conversation, and recognising that behaviour often tells a story. As our organisation grows its work across schools and communities, we are strengthening our governance to support sustainable and responsible growth.
About the Role
The Board provides governance, strategic direction and oversight of Rise & Thrive Co. Directors are not responsible for day-to-day operations but play an important role in ensuring the organisation remains accountable, financially sustainable and focused on its purpose.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attending and actively contributing to Board meetings
- Reviewing Board papers and preparing for meetings
- Contributing to strategy and organisational planning
- Providing financial, risk, compliance and governance oversight
- Supporting safeguarding and responsible decision-making
- Contributing professional expertise to agreed Board priorities
- Following through on agreed actions
- Supporting appropriate stakeholder relationships, networks and introductions
- Acting in the best interests of Rise & Thrive Co and the communities we serve
For the Board Chair, we are particularly interested in candidates with previous governance and leadership experience who can support an effective, accountable and collaborative Board.
Skills and Experience
We welcome applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Board governance or chairing
- Financial oversight
- Grant writing, fundraising or philanthropy
- Startup, social enterprise or not-for-profit scaling
- Legal, risk or compliance
- Child safeguarding, youth mental health or trauma-informed practice
- Education or youth justice
- First Nations cultural safety
- Strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement
Applicants do not need experience across every area. We are looking to build a Board with the right mix of skills, professional judgement, networks, lived and professional perspectives, and genuine commitment.

Commitment
This is a voluntary position, requiring approximately 3–5 hours per month. Board meetings are generally held online, with attendance at key events encouraged where possible.
Consistent attendance, preparation, communication and follow-through on agreed responsibilities are important.
