Bushfires, floods and cyclones are a reality for many Australian communities. When disaster impacts, Anglicare Sydney needs calm, caring people to help in Evacuation and Recovery Centres.
Flexible Volunteering That Fits Your Life
Anglicare’s Disaster Recovery volunteers provide practical support when communities need it most:
- Supporting people in Evacuation and Recovery Centres,
- Providing practical assistance and essential items,
- Being a calm, compassionate presence during challenging times, and
- Working alongside government agencies and community partners to assist affected communities.
Anglicare provides:
- Comprehensive training, ongoing support and resources,
- A volunteer uniform and ID badge,
- A dedicated local team and leadership support, and
- Opportunities for ongoing learning and skill development.
Volunteers are only activated when the NSW Government declares a disaster and volunteers select the shift(s) that suit their availability.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking people who are:
- Caring and community-minded,
- Reliable and willing to help others during times of crisis,
- Prepared to complete required screening and training (approximately 3 hours, which can be done face-to-face, in online webinars or self-paced online, and
- Willing to respond when disasters affect local communities.
