• Can you offer calm connection to someone living in aged care?

• Connect over travel, art, flowers and gentle outings

• A shared cup of coffee or short walk in the garden could become a much-loved routine

💛What is ACVVS? 💛

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who may be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.

St Vincent’s is looking for volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice and integrity, and who want to bring those values to life through genuine connection with older people.

Amber is a well-traveled art lover who is living in a welcoming, person-centered aged care home in Jannali. Amber likes to take slow walks in the garden and especially loves looking for yellow roses!

If you enjoy quiet, relaxed company, you could be a great support to Amber.

A short walk, a coffee, looking at art or simply noticing the flowers can all create space for connection.

Ideas for your visits

• Share a cup of coffee and a quiet chat

• Take a gentle walk or spend time outside

• Talk about travel, art or favourite places

• Enjoy flowers, creativity or quiet conversation

Who may be the right fit?

Someone gentle, reliable and comfortable with one-to-one companionship. An interest in art, travel or the outdoors could give you an easy place to start.

The practical bits

• You must be 18 years or over.

• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.

• Visits are approximately one hour, at least once a fortnight, with a minimum of 20 visits over 12 months.

• We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.

Why small moments count

Many people like Amber experience social isolation while living in aged care. Connection is often built through ordinary moments repeated over time. A familiar person to share those moments with can make a real difference.

At St Vincent's, we value inclusion and diversity. We are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and inclusive, and we invite people from all backgrounds to join our caring community.
