✨What is ACVVS? ✨

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who may be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.

St Vincent’s is looking for volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice and integrity, and who want to bring those values to life through genuine connection with older people.

A lifelong lover of reading, knitting, crochet and classic movie musicals, Julie has a lifetime of memories to share. Living in a beautiful and welcoming aged care home in Jannali, Julie is looking for someone to visit her regularly, because her family can’t.

You do not need to be a musical-theatre expert. Curiosity, patience and a willingness to share the things she enjoys could turn a crossword, a song or a movie memory into a genuine connection.

• A crossword or puzzle

• A book, magazine or conversation about reading

• Knitting, crochet or another creative interest

• Memories of dance and classic movie musicals

Who would suit this friendship?

Someone respectful and warm who enjoys creative interests, classic films, books or simply getting to know another person's story.

The requirements of this volunteer role include:

• You must be 18 years or over.

• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.

• Visits are approximately one hour, at least once a fortnight, with a minimum of 20 visits over 12 months.

• We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.
