💞Be the Familiar Face Someone Looks Forward To – ACVVS NSW💞

St Vincent's Health Australia

• One hour can create a genuine sense of connection

• Conversation, music, games or simply being there all count

• No aged-care experience needed - just warmth, patience and reliability

✨What is ACVVS? ✨

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who may be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.

St Vincent’s is looking for volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice and integrity, and who want to bring those values to life through genuine connection with older people.

Every friendship will look different. Some visits may be full of conversation; others may be quieter, built around music, a favourite activity or simply enjoying company.

🧩What a visit could look like🧩

• Share tea or coffee and talk about everyday life

• Listen to music, watch a favourite show or look through a book

• Play cards, do a puzzle or enjoy a simple hobby together

• Follow the resident's pace - connection does not always need lots of words

🌈Who could be a great fit?🌈

Someone kind, dependable and comfortable meeting people as they are. You do not need to entertain, fix anything or provide personal care. Your role is friendship and companionship.

The practical bits

• You must be 18 years or over.

• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.

• Visits are approximately 30 minutes to one hour, at least once a fortnight throughout the year.

• We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.

💞Why it matters💞

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme exists to reduce loneliness and strengthen social connection. A consistent visitor can help an older person feel seen, valued and connected to the world around them.

Could you be that familiar face?

If you have an hour to share and can commit to returning regularly, we would love to hear from you.

At St Vincent's, we value inclusion and diversity. We are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and inclusive, and we invite people from all backgrounds to join our caring community.
