Visitor Information Volunteer - Mareeba Heritage Centre
Mareeba Heritage Centre t/as Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre
Advertised by FNQ Volunteers Inc.Whilst on duty, volunteers are responsible for being ambassadors for Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands. Volunteers will:
- Provide a warm, friendly and sincere welcome to visitors to Mareeba, thus enticing visitors to stay longer in our region.
- Develop knowledge base and respond to visitors in a timely manner, using the full extent of resources available.
- Assist visitors with all inquiries in an unbiased manner.
- Answer the telephone promptly and politely.
- Show a willingness to participate in tasks as requested by the Manager.
- Assist in administration duties including such duties as ensuring adequate stationery and printing supplies are held, mail collection, sales of tours and merchandise to visitors.
- Process merchandise sales when items are sold, details are entered on to the daily Sales Sheet and correct change is given.
- Prepare or close the register and EFTPOS system at end of day as may be required.
- Ensure the counter and display area is kept neat and tidy and replace brochures as needed.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, respecting privacy of local business operators, fellow volunteers, the Mareeba Heritage Centre and its staff.
- When on duty at the Visitor Information Centre wear the uniform as provided and keep it maintained and wear name tag at all times whilst volunteering.
- Refer any inquiries beyond general enquiries (school groups, conferences, tour operators, Mareeba Chamber of Commerce etc.) to the Manager.
- Take detailed messages including name and telephone number of persons delivering brochures or leaving messages for staff or fellow volunteers.
- Accurately record and maintain entries on to the daily Statistics Sheet.
