Communications Coordinator

South Melbourne Districts Football Club is looking for a Communications Coordinator to help keep our players, volunteers, supporters and wider club community informed and connected.
The core responsibility of this role will be coordinating a timely weekly club newsletter, while also having the opportunity to review and strengthen how we communicate across the club more broadly.
What you’ll do
Working with our Committee and other club volunteers, you’ll:
- Collate updates and information from across the club for our weekly newsletter
- Write, edit and distribute the newsletter in a timely manner
- Coordinate with teams, coaches, volunteers and Committee members to source relevant information
- Help maintain and improve our mailing lists
- Review and update content on our club website
- Identify opportunities to make our internal and external communications clearer and more effective
- Develop new ideas for how we can better communicate with and engage our club community.
The weekly newsletter is the minimum requirement of the role, but beyond this there is plenty of flexibility to shape the position around your interests and ideas.
What you’ll get from the role
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or community engagement to gain practical experience managing communications for a community sporting organisation.
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of a regular communication channel while also developing and implementing your own ideas to improve the way our club communicates.
You’ll build connections across all areas of South Melbourne Districts and become part of our wider club community, with the opportunity to attend and be involved in our games, events and social activities.
