Cat and Kitten Foster Carer
About us
Bowen Collinsville Pet Rescue Inc is a foster based animal rescue supporting animals across the Whitsundays, Bowen, Collinsville, Ayr and surrounding areas. We don't have a shelter. Instead, our foster carers and volunteers work together to get animals out of the pound, into safe foster homes and eventually into loving forever families.
About the role
Foster carers are the heart of our rescue. Without a shelter, every cat and kitten we save needs a safe, loving home to stay in while they wait for their forever family. Right now, we urgently need more of those homes.
You don't need to foster all the time. Whether you can help one cat once in a while or you'd love to have kittens rotating through your home, there's a place for you.
What you'll be doing
- Providing a safe, warm temporary home for a cat or kitten
- Feeding, cuddling and caring for your foster each day
- Helping them settle in and build their confidence
- Sharing updates and photos with the rescue team
- Getting them to vet appointments when needed
- Helping us get to know their personality so we can find the perfect match
Who we'd love to hear from
- People based in the Whitsundays, Bowen or Burdekin areas
- Indoor foster homes
- People able to foster adult cats
- Kitten foster carers
- Short or longer term carers
- People who can only foster occasionally
Experience with cats is helpful but not essential. A caring heart, a safe space and good communication matter most.
Why foster with us
- Foster on your terms, as often as suits you
- Be backed by an established rescue team who will support you
- Enjoy all the purrs and cuddles without a lifelong commitment
- Watch a scared cat or tiny kitten grow into a confident companion
- Be part of their story from the pound to their forever home
The impact you'll make
Every foster home means one more cat or kitten we can say yes to. When you open your door, you're not just helping the animal in your care, you're making space for the next one waiting in the pound. Even one foster can change a life.
How to apply
Apply with a little about yourself, where you're based, your home setup and whether you'd prefer adult cats, kittens or both. Let us know how often you could realistically foster, and we'll be in touch for a friendly chat.
