Make a Difference Through the Power of Listening
Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give someone is your time, a listening ear and the feeling that they matter.
Our Spiritual and Pastoral Care team is looking for compassionate, approachable volunteers who enjoy connecting with people and making a positive difference in the lives of our residents.
You don’t need to have all the answers. What matters most is your ability to listen without judgement, offer kindness and reassurance, and help residents feel heard, valued and supported.
Whether you have experience in pastoral care, community services, aged care or emotional support, or you’re simply someone who connects naturally with others, this could be a meaningful opportunity to share your skills and make a difference.
Could this be you?
We’re looking for people who:
- Are genuinely interested in people and their wellbeing.
- Are good listeners who can offer a calm, caring and supportive presence.
- Can build rapport and develop positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Respect individual values, beliefs, cultures and life experiences.
- Have an interest in supporting the spiritual, emotional and social wellbeing of others.
- Bring maturity, empathy, patience and a respectful approach to conversations.
- Can work independently, follow guidance and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Are reliable, flexible and committed to making a difference.
Experience or recognised prior learning in pastoral care is valued. Being actively involved in a Christian faith community is also a requirement for this particular role.
What’s involved?
- Time commitment: One two-hour shift per week.
- Availability: Any day from Monday to Sunday, between 8 am and 4 pm, by arrangement.
- Ongoing commitment: We’re looking for volunteers who can build consistency and meaningful connections with residents over time.
- Training: Complete our mandatory volunteer training before your first shift.
- Police check: We’ll coordinate and cover the cost of your National Police Certificate.
As part of volunteering with us, you’ll also be required to sign a Statement of Agreement acknowledging our expectations around confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Why volunteer with us?
Because every person deserves to feel valued, respected and connected.
Your time, compassion and willingness to listen can help create moments of comfort, connection and reassurance for residents who may appreciate someone taking the time to sit with them, listen to their stories and show genuine care.
If you believe in the difference a little kindness can make, we’d love to hear from you.
Bring your compassion, your listening skills and your desire to make a difference. Together, we can help our residents feel seen, heard and cared for.
