Volunteer Driver and Support for Homeless Program

We need someone to assist with picking up donations as well as dropping them off to some of our renters through our program, ‘Avalon Homes for the Homeless.’ Donations could include clothing, bedding, care packages, food, shoes, small items of furniture.There may also be trips to collect or drop off volunteers or other driving errands (as the need arises). You would be a driver with a difference.

This is an active role with real community impact, providing opportunities to meet new people and join a welcoming group. Key personal characteristics would include being sympathetic and having interpersonal skills. You will have the chance to meet grateful donors and build positive connections as well as the satisfaction of seeing donations go directly to those in need. No new skills required, just a willingness to help. The role has a flexible schedule to suit your availability and is self paced volunteering with no pressure.

The centre provides a Toyota Hiace Van and pickups will be around Melbourne and occasionally regional areas. The clothing and bedding that you pick up will then be sorted and distributed to the homeless and disadvantaged members of the community.
