    Breastfeeding Educators are trained volunteers who offer breastfeeding information and mother-to-mother support to women whose babies are breastfeeding and to their families. Their area of expertise is breastfeeding support. The counsellors have to have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of 6 months and hold a current 10998NAT Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling) (or equivalent) and have to complete ongoing training to up d ate their knowledge and skills.

This support is provided by the 'Dads in Distress' program of national suicide prevention charity, 'Parents Beyond Breakup'. Each group established is estimated to prevent 5-8 suicides in their local community each year. Thats around 7-16 kids that get to keep their dads around locally, every year.
