The Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF) is a Canberra-based registered charity working to improve the care, support and treatment available to people affected by brain cancer in the ACT and surrounding region. Our mission is to rebuild and strengthen the brain cancer care system in the National Capital by investing in three key areas: patient and family support, research and biobanking, and vital medical equipment. Through our patient and family care programs, we help individuals, carers and families access counselling, practical assistance, referrals, emotional support and bereavement services. We also support community-based initiatives that reduce isolation and help families connect with others who understand the challenges of a brain cancer diagnosis. ABCF works closely with clinicians, researchers, hospitals, community organisations, volunteers and local supporters to advance brain cancer research and improve treatment opportunities. This includes supporting the ACT Brain Cancer Biobank, which provides an important resource for researchers studying brain tumours and developing better treatments. We also raise funds for specialised medical equipment that can improve diagnosis, surgery and treatment for brain cancer patients in Canberra. As a local organisation, we are committed to ensuring that funds raised in our community create a meaningful impact for local patients and families. Volunteers are an essential part of our work and help us deliver fundraising events, community programs, awareness activities and practical support initiatives.
