Listening Support Volunteer – Make Someone’s Day Brighter
Sometimes, the most powerful gift you can give is your time and a listening ear. We are seeking compassionate Listening Support Volunteers to spend time with older people who value connection, conversation, and being truly heard. Through friendly visits and meaningful chats, you’ll help reduce loneliness and bring comfort, warmth, and companionship to elderly individuals in their homes or aged care settings. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys genuine conversation, has a calm and caring presence, and understands that simply listening can make a world of difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Spending time one-on-one with elderly clients or residents
- Offering companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Listening with empathy and respect — no fixing or counselling required
- Helping older people feel valued, connected, and less alone
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need professional qualifications — just a kind heart and a willingness to listen. Ideal volunteers:
- Are patient, compassionate, and reliable
- Enjoy meaningful conversations with older people
- Respect individual life stories, values, and experiences
- Are comfortable working independently and as part of a supportive team
- Additional language skills in Greek, Romanian, Portuguese, French, or Mandarin are highly desirable.
Why Volunteer With Us
- Make a real and lasting difference in someone’s life
- Build meaningful connections and hear incredible life stories
- Receive training, support, and guidance from our friendly team
- Experience the joy of knowing your time truly matters
Time Commitment
- One 4-hour shift per week (or as agreed)
If you believe that everyone deserves to be heard and valued, we would love to hear from you. You only need a clear police check which we can help with if you do not have one and complete mandatory volunteer training to get you started.
Join us and help bring comfort, connection, and kindness to older members of our community.
