About the role

Mingary Care Op Shops rely on safe, practical collections and deliveries to keep donations and stock moving where they are needed.

As an Op Shop Collections & Delivery Assistant, you’ll help the Driver with collections, deliveries, stock movement and other practical tasks. This role supports the movement of donated goods and helps make collections and deliveries safer and easier.

The amount of time spent on collections and deliveries will vary depending on demand, shop needs and scheduled runs. Some shifts may be out and about; other shifts may include more loading, unloading, moving stock or practical shop support between runs.

This role may include

  • Assisting with collections and deliveries, depending on demand
  • Helping load and unload items, within safe limits
  • Carrying, moving or positioning donated goods
  • Helping check items before collection or delivery
  • Supporting the Driver with directions, access, parking or communication
  • Helping move stock between shops, storage areas or shop floors
  • Using safe lifting practices and asking for help when needed
  • Helping with practical shop support between runs or when collections and deliveries are quiet

This role may suit someone who

  • Enjoys practical, hands-on work
  • Is comfortable working with another person
  • Is reliable and willing to help where needed
  • Can follow safe lifting and movement instructions
  • Enjoys being out and about, while understanding not every shift will be on the road
  • Is happy representing Mingary Care in the community
  • Is happy to pitch in with practical shop support when delivery tasks are quiet

Things to be aware of

This is a physical, hands-on role that may involve lifting, carrying, bending, standing, moving bulky items and working in different locations. The amount of time spent out on runs may vary from shift to shift. This role does not involve driving unless you are also separately approved as a Mingary Care Driver.

You’ll be representing Mingary Care while you’re out in the community, so warmth, respect and courtesy matter just as much as helping hands. You’ll be shown safe ways to help and should only do tasks you can safely manage. If something feels heavy, awkward or unsafe, please ask for help.

If you enjoy practical work, being part of a two-person team, and helping keep donations moving, this is a valued hands-on role that supports Mingary Care’s work.
