Want to make a difference with your volunteering, preserving maritime history while spending your time with a great team in a friendly environment? Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels which represent Australia's maritime history. They include Tall Ship James Craig, ferry Kanangra, steamship John Oxley, 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP launch Lady Hopetoun, 1903 schooner Boomerang and several diesel motor launches.
The Sydney Heritage Fleet Workshops in Rozelle Bay is a busy hive of activity. You will find yourself in a very happy friendly work environment where there are no cliques or feuds or jealousies. Just the keen desire to have the joy of having a productive day.
This role gives our volunteer the opportunity to learn a wide range of roles at our centre in Bateau Bay, including Main Entry Reception Desk, Op Shop assistance, assisting in the kitchen and some related cleaning. This is a fulfilling role which gives back to the local community and provides a sense of community spirit. ***This opportunity comes to you via Volunteering Central Coast, the volunteering resource centre for the Central Coast***
Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates historic steam ships, sailing ships and many smaller launches. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle.
