Providing entertainment and support to hundreds of Moon Walkers means there are lots of different things for Volunteers to get involved with! Everything you need to know is provided in your Volunteer Pack a few weeks before the event and each team has a designated Volunteer Team Leader or Miracle Moon Walk Staff member to provide training, assistance and guidance on event day.

Darwin has a variety of unique and beautiful beaches. A new location will be surveyed each Wednesday for marine debris, which are then sorted and catalogued on the day and added to a national database (Tangaroa Blue). Sites include Rapid Creek/Nightcliff, Mindil, East Point, Buffalo Creek, Casuarina and Lee Point. With your help we can reduce debris and preserve our beaches. Wetlands play a critical role in flood mitigation, water and carbon storage, and supporting an abundance of unique local plant and animal species. Conservation Volunteers are building a sustainable strategy for the management of this area and invite volunteers to be a part of this management with activities including weed removal, watering, tree trimming, track maintenance, tree planting, wildlife monitoring and surveys. Volunteer Tutors teach English to new migrants and refugees who are unable to access on-site classes. Tutoring is across the Bankstown, Fairfield, Cabrammatta, Liverpool and Campbelltown council areas. Lesson times are flexible depending on your availability - can be during weekdays or weekends, during or out of work hours.
Help a local Neighbourhood Learning Centre plan a comprehensive multi platform marketing campaign. We particularly need to develop a distinctive brand for our "Inclusive Communities" program and to develop NDIS promotional materials and methodologies.
Our Knitting Group has been running for the past 10 years and has proven to be such a success with our residents. Its a place where people can come along and knit, socialise, have a cuppa or even just enjoy the company of others around. Volunteers need a sound knowledge of knitting and the ability to read and work through new knitting patterns.
