The Monsignor Hawes Heritage Centre (MHHC) is a state-of-the-art interpretive centre, within the grounds of St Francis Xavier's Cathedral, that tells the story of architect-priest Monsignor John Cyril Hawes. The Monsignor Hawes Museum Attendant will engage with visitors to help them appreciate the wonderful story of Monsignor John Cyril Hawes and to take the opportunity to visit the many places he built in the Midwest and Gascoyne region of WA.
We require volunteers to conduct tours to guide individuals through this heritage house and provide information on the contents and history to visitors to make it an informative and enjoyable experience.
It’s all here, tourism, history, holiday programs and events! Opportunities exist for volunteers in multiple roles: heritage guides, customer service, visitor information assistants, and village “stollers” in heritage costume. The Maritime Museum of Townsville collects stories and objects related to North Queensland's maritime heritage and has as its customers the local community, schools and tourists. It was established in 1986 and features a range of thematic displays, including wars in the Pacific, Port history, the evolution of ships and the Yongala shipwreck. The Rockingham Museum is a community museum which is managed by the Rockingham District Historical Society Inc. It is committed to the collection, preservation, documentation and interpretation of the heritage of Western Australia in General, with the emphasis on the history of Rockingham District, for future education and enjoyment of the wider community. The Museum is housed in an Art Deco building, the former Rockingham Road Board Building built in 1946/47.
