Bolting Ahead Incorporated is a registered charity dedicated to building a truly inclusive society by creating sustainable, meaningful, and customised employment opportunities for young people living with a disability. The organisation delivers inclusive, person-centred programs and bespoke social enterprises designed by the young people it supports, fostering self-belief, core skills, and pathways to long-term employment. Purpose and Vision: Bolting Ahead exists to empower young people with disabilities to thrive through employment, community participation, and personal growth. Its vision is a community where every young person—regardless of ability—has the confidence, skills, and opportunity to build a meaningful career and contribute to society. The OutRun Series is Bolting Ahead’s flagship academy, a staged learning and microenterprise development program for individuals aged 16+ of all abilities. Across five progressive stages—OutBreak, OutLook, OutLine, OutDo, and OutLast—participants build foundational skills, explore workplaces, develop microenterprises, launch real-world projects, and receive ongoing support to sustain their success. Backyard Bolters is a bespoke small business providing lawn care and general yard maintenance, such as mowing, whipper snipping, hedge trimming, pressure cleaning, and weeding. Based on Brisbane’s northside, the business was founded by four young men, supported by their mentors, to create meaningful employment opportunities and hands-on business experience while delivering a valuable service to the community. The Backyard Bolters operate as a cohesive team, completing each job efficiently and to a high standard. They draw on one another’s strengths, continually build new skills, and take pride in refining their craft. With demand steadily increasing, the business is well-positioned for significant future growth.
