Your role will require you to service the Information tent at the Kokoda Challenge Event Village. Here you will be amongst the excitement of the start/finish line. Volunteer roles available 28 - 29 May
This role assists the Checkpoint (CP) Captain in setting up the CP and preparing for the first competitors. The CP assistant role is to cheer on and direct competitors in and out of the CP and ensures the participant's cross-timing mats and that water is always available. You will need to check there is toilet paper in toilets and other duties as directed by the CP Captain. The final CP assistants on shift will help with the pack down and clean up of the site
This hands-on role prepared all food for all the volunteers in the central kitchen. You will be making sandwiches and support volunteers from the finish line hub with a hot drink. Volunteers are required for Saturday 28th May and/or Sunday 29th May
This role is for the patient hikers as you will follow the last team through the course ensuring not to pass any teams or participants. Along the way you will pick up all track marking ribbon and signage along course and take to next checkpoint. You can do one section of the course or elect to do the entire event but you will only ever move as quick as the slowest team. Radio provided.
The role will see you mark all tracks (or sections of the track) as per track marking instructions issued by KYF. Signs & equipment are provided but you will need at least three in the team and walking shoes! This role is usually performed up to one week out from the event. As a Registrations volunteer you will be assisting to hand out the registration packs and T-shirts. This is done on Friday and Saturday (prior to the event start). Volunteers required for Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May
Information Officer This role requires 2 people on shift, you will help participants and support crews with any questions (you will be provided with a list of FAQS) and directions as required. You will allocate and register returned equipment as per supplied schedule You may be called on to assist with tasks at the finish line as required by the start/finish line manager or marshal Volunteers required for Saturday 28th May
Merchandise Officer You will assist with the setup of merchandise for sale through EFT/cash systems. Assist with sales and keeping the tent area tidy and well presented. Refilling of stock as required and assisting customers. Volunteers required for Saturday 28th May
