Pets for Life Volunteers provide practical support as guided by the owner in the care of their companion animal. The role is two-fold in that while assisting to maintain the animal’s welfare, volunteers will also be interacting with and become a support/contact for the older person. Isolation of the older person will be dramatically reduced through the volunteer visits and interaction around the animal’s care.
At the direction of the Team Coordinator, the Team Leader supervises Spontaneous Volunteers for disaster relief activities to support and assist homeowners or tenants to clean up after a disaster.
Peninsula Animal Aid is in need of Cattery Volunteers. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining our team. Volunteering at Peninsula Animal Aid is very rewarding.
Helping to care for our herd of ten equine therapy horses and ponies. We have a team of Stable Hands that cover shifts, 365 days a year to feed and health-check the horses and keep their paddocks clean and safe.
This is our team of angels that make sure that the admin space and stable block are clean and tidy, the plants are watered, supplies are in stock etc. They also make sure that everything is in good order and is where it is meant to be. This is the perfect role for someone who would like to be near the horses but perhaps isn’t physically able to be on the stable team.
Our Ad-Hoc Helpers Team helps with organising ad-hoc activities including: • working bees • fundraising events • Gratitude Day lunches • annual Mega Market (held at the sanctuary) • our annual Seeing The Soul Art Prize & Exhibition.
Upbeat Arts transforms lives through singing together! As a Health Buddy you’ll become a core member of one of our Absolutely Everybody choir programs. We’re looking for health professionals who’ll become part of one of our choirs and will be on hand to offer support and advice to any participant requiring assistance, for example participants who become anxious or upset during a rehearsal or workshop. Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking additional members to join the University Animal Ethics Committee.
OFFICE/ADMINISTRATION - answering the phone, taking bookings for and conducting sanctuary tours, typing correspondence, reception and general office duties. Some knowledge of computers is preferable. We need to cover 7 days a week so ideally we require another volunteer to provide us 1 day a week with flexible days and times. On the job training given. Mature persons and retirees welcome. We are a Centrelink approved workplace.
- While cleaning, changing feed/water, be hands-on, interacting and playing with our parrots at our bird sanctuary we have nearly 400 parrots. - Earn Certificates and use them when searching for a job - Receive a reference after working here for a designated period of time Volunteers from 13 years of age accepted depending on suitability for ability to perform tasks as required (with parental/carers written consent).
AVIARY ATTENDANTS - Cleaning and feeding, interacting with the birds checking their health and wellbeing. On the job training given. For those who are doing animal studies this is a great hands on experience with achievement certificates available. Mature persons and retirees welcome. Volunteers from 13 years of age accepted (with parental/carers written consent) if able to perform the tasks required. Our sanctuary is a Centrelink approved workplace.
