Are you interested in our natural world and its unique ecosystems? Would you like to help the environment, take action and do something practical? Then help us restore habitat along the Derwent and conserve, protect and bring back our local wetlands.
Want hands-on work that actually helps the environment? We grow local native (indigenous) plants from seed or cuttings for revegetation projects or local gardens. Our retail area is open to the public for plant sales. More indigenous plants in gardens and larger revegetation projects provide habitat for native animals, birds and insects, and reduce species loss. We rely on volunteers but lockdowns hit us hard. Please help us get back to the thriving nursery from before the pandemic!
Are you passionate about reducing waste? Do you enjoy engaging in waste-related conversation? Let your passion make an impact and join WMRC's Community Waste Education team to assist with events and stalls we run and attend in Perth’s western suburbs. The aim is to make good waste practices normal by educating the community about waste avoidance and recycling.

Enjoy a walk and a chat as you stroll along the shoreline of Ash Island picking up small items of litter. You'll use a grab stick and bag to pick up small items, mostly plastic, to ensure they don't enter waterways threatening wildlife, and help improve the visual appeal of the landscape. At the end of the shift, you'll enter the data into the computer, with help provided if needed, to record types of litter collected. This is part of a Citizen Science project.
