    Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD)

    We need drivers to collect prepacked boxes of fruit and veg. You don't need to do every week, you will be a part of a team and can do weekly/fortnightly or monthly. At CARAD, we provide our clients with fresh fruit and vegetables on a weekly basis. Our clients are Asylum Seekers, who do not receive Centrelink, Medicare or any support from elsewhere. Through the Second Bite program, our Pantry provides food security for the most vulnerable people in our community.

We have been delivering programs that promote a safe, welcoming and supportive space for newly arrived refugee and migrant communities, as well as those seeking asylum for over a decade. We are in need of volunteers who have basic skills as a Carpenter and is willing to pass on the knowledge to refugee and migrant communities to up skill them and help them into employment. Volunteers need to be vaccinated.

    Friends of Refugees Reporting to the Education Support Coordinator, and working with other child care workers, the child care worker looks after children of parents who are taking part in programs at the Friends of Refugees centre and provide fun and educational activities while parents are in an adjacent room. Children will generally be between the ages of 3 months and 7 years.

    The Volunteer Tutor Program is a part of the AMEP. It offers informal language tutors to help migrants and refugees to improve their English. The Program relies on trained volunteers who work on a one-to-one basis, outside the classroom environment, either online or face to face. Every AMEP student is offered the opportunity by SR TAFE for Volunteer support for 1 hour per week. Volunteer Tutors play an important role to support new Australians to settle into the Australian culture.
