Founded in 2004, River of Art is a volunteer-led arts organisation and registered charity that has become one of the NSW South Coast's most enduring cultural events. Now in its 22nd year, the organisation continues to connect artists, audiences and communities through creativity while celebrating the unique character of the Eurobodalla. Each September, River of Art presents an 11-day festival featuring exhibitions, performances, workshops and creative experiences across the region. At the heart of the Festival is the acclaimed River of Art Prize, which showcases outstanding contemporary artists and provides valuable opportunities for recognition, exhibition and professional development. Working in partnership with local businesses, arts organisations, community groups and volunteers, River of Art delivers cultural experiences across the South Coast - from Durras and Batemans Bay in the north, through Moruya, to Narooma, Bermagui and Cobargo in the south. The organisation is proud to have been recognised as the 2026 Eurobodalla Business Awards Excellence in the Arts winner and a 2025 Outstanding Visitor Experience finalist. Behind every exhibition, event and initiative is a passionate team of volunteers. From governance and administration to marketing, fundraising, artist support and event delivery, volunteers contribute the skills, experience and commitment that enable River of Art to thrive. As the organisation looks to the future, River of Art remains committed to supporting artists, strengthening regional culture, fostering community connection and ensuring creativity continues to flourish across the South Coast. Whether you volunteer a few hours each month or take on a leadership role, you'll be helping shape one of the region's most valued cultural organisations and making a lasting difference to artists, communities and visitors alike.
