Are you interested in clinical and community based volunteer work? Are you over the age of 18 & physically fit? Volunteer with your local sub-centre as a Volunteer Ambulance Officer. Attend emergency and non-emergency ambulance calls as well as other duties as required. Commitment is approx 60 hours annually, based on 1 shift plus training per month. The Monsignor Hawes Heritage Centre (MHHC) is a state-of-the-art interpretive centre, within the grounds of St Francis Xavier's Cathedral, that tells the story of architect-priest Monsignor John Cyril Hawes. The Monsignor Hawes Museum Attendant will engage with visitors to help them appreciate the wonderful story of Monsignor John Cyril Hawes and to take the opportunity to visit the many places he built in the Midwest and Gascoyne region of WA.

Sydney Heritage Fleet owns world-famous barque James Craig a fully rigged iron ship built 1874. From a rusted skeletal hulk in Recherche Bay Tasmania, she has been completely rebuilt by the volunteers at Sydney Heritage Fleet and now makes harbour and ocean voyages for the public often setting all of her 21 sails. Keeping her seaworthy needs constant attention , to paintwork, woodwork, rigging and deck caulking. We need you to join the happy team who carry out this work regularly on the ship.

Our main restoration project is steamer John Oxley, and there are many regularly used vessels on which maintenance is essential. Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates historic steam ships, sailing ships and many smaller launches. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.
