The role of the Volunteer is to aid the consumer during their journey through the Emergency Department at Canberra Hospital; to ease emotional distress and anxiety experienced by patients, their families, and friends through the provision of practical support under the guidance of Emergency Department staff.
The role of the volunteer is to provide support to patients aged 0 to 12 years and their families in consultation with the senior nurse (shift leader) in paediatric wards, day stay and outpatient clinics at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Garran.
The role of the JP volunteer is to provide Justice of the Peace services up to two (2) days a week for 2-3 hours each session at Canberra Hospital in Garran. The role of a JP volunteer plays an important role in the hospital system and provides a valuable and accessible service to all members of the public. JP volunteer will have an allocated secure and private location each week and may also be required to go to patient areas.
