There are an estimated 1.4m Australians with some evidence of age-related macular degeneration, which is the most common macular disease.

The Clinic Outreach Volunteer is a pivotal role designed to promote the Eye Connect service directly to patients at local eye injection clinics. The Eye Connect service offers essential post-clinic support for people living with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by providing guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance to navigate their diagnosis and everyday challenges.

MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Co-Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to guide a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.
