Heart Foundation Walking is seeking volunteers to start and lead walking groups in their neighbourhood. Walk Organisers need no prior experience and will receive full training and support from the Heart Foundation.

Programs may include face to face activities such as Activity days, Camps, and ‘Connect’ sessions (online). Your communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport will assist and support young people whilst on Program, building a relationship of trust. You’ll participate in program activities supervising and assisting young people as required.
Habitat for Humanity Australia
Habitat for Humanity Australia requires volunteers for repair and maintenance work on crisis accommodation. The program benefits disadvantaged and socially isolated members of the community. There is a range of volunteer opportunities both in and around Newcastle. No skills are required! Teams are mobilised to conduct landscaping, painting and minor repairs to homes and crisis accommodation.

Your strong literacy and numeracy skills, and your patience and dedication, will be highly regarded in this role, assisting Adult Vocational Education students who may be challenged by, or face barriers with, the literacy and numeracy requirements within the course they are undertaking. You’ll assist a student with reading, writing & numeracy exercises, sometimes during class and sometimes one-on-one.

We are dedicated to getting people who are transport disadvantaged, to a variety of destinations including social outings, appointments and shopping trips. You will assist staff and drivers to ensure that clients are comfortable during their trip and assist with activities and outings organised for our clients.

Services include transporting clients to and from various appointments, assisting clients with everyday responsibilities, such as shopping and providing social support activities to clients. The role is to provide a safe, reliable and punctual service to enable our clients to access the community and reduce isolation in their everyday lives.

Our programs match those not in regular social contact with people with caring and friendly volunteers. This role involves personal visiting, including social conversations and can include social outings and group activities. This is a Commonwealth-funded Aged Care Program with no charges to the client. Roles are available across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter.

We are seeking to build a team of volunteers to support our work in the community, share information about Mental Health Support, and Fundraise for our community projects. Primarily, this will involve our Market Stall sites across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. This includes a rotating roster of volunteers for each site, setup of a marquee, tables, promotional materials, and sales of fundraising items. The role involves weekends and some night markets.
