Behind the scenes, our General Hand Volunteers ensure that our Night Patrol vehicles are fully stocked and ready to go; assisting with the collection and transportation of food, clothing and other material aid items that will be provided during service, to our companions.

Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn offers a range of Youth Programs providing young people a place of belonging, in a positive and supportive environment. Our group respite programs support children and young people (aged 6-17) impacted by circumstances beyond their control. Through free weekend activities, school holiday programs, and overnight camps. Participants gain meaningful experiences, positive relationships and development of skills that support and enhance their overall well being.

Dementia Australia hosts a weekly walking group each Friday supported by staff and volutneers.

You will commence as a dog reading team volunteer and after two school terms receive training to take on the Coordinator position. The Coordinator will support and give recognition to a team of 6 -10 volunteers within part of the ACT. You will also work with other ACT coordinators to raise awareness of the Story Dogs brand and recruit/ train new volunteers. This is a non paid, volunteer role. This role requires you to have a suitable dog.

Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.
